Che Quartez was birthed in the capital city of Michigan, Lansing. Home of a diverse melting pot of phenomenal human beings. From the bottom to the top many fantastic people. Visiting the local supermarkets, restaurants and retail spaces along with living in this vibrant community prepared him for his artistic journey. The name Che Quartez comes from his family name with a unique twist, partially suggested from a very wise man he met in the late 90s. At the beginning of this journey, through Che's parents he heard a variety of many forms of musical styles and genres played on record players and riding along with them in cars. He and his younger brother ( a modern renaissance man, way ahead of his time) and neighbor kids would ride bikes and listen to some of the early HipHop greats. The Beastie Boys and Run-DMC were some of the cassettes booming through the boombox. As he grew older he continued to experience a multitude of music styles, but HipHop just stuck with him. The craft of penning words and rhyming over beats was magical to him. He and his family would have many great times at cookouts with his large family of grandparents, aunts and uncles and his many cousins and brother. In his teen years he would spend many hours with his cousin listening to numerous styles of the art of HipHop. Also, during this time he would work at local food spot and get a real world primer on how business works. Che was introduced to so many dope artists through his cousin. This continued until he graduated High School. Sadly, In 2004 his cousin had passed away. He had a very significant influence on him overall, but especially his artistic path. He was spectacular at the game of basketball and helped Che develop much need athleticism. After graduating high school he went off to his local community college. Here is where he met numerous creatives who loved the elements of HipHop as much as he did. Soon after, he would have many creative sessions with his brother and other fantastic individuals. Through these creative sessions he met a local artist known as A-Bomb ( Now known as gotchaman!) A-Bomb showed Che "how the sausage was made" This went on from around 1996-2000. During this time Che debuted on A-Bomb's first album No Samples Required. On that album he went by the name Jack Spade "The Cultivator" as part of the collective known as Agony Gardenz. Also, Che combined with A-Bomb to form the group called Volumetrics. Additionally, Che would work with other local artists as well. One of these artists was Key Green a magnificent producer and engineer and all around musical genius. One of Michigan's greats. During this time Che continued honing his creative sword. Unfortunately, during Y2K Che had experienced much adversity. But during this adversity Existing In Fiction was born, heavily influenced by his brother. Although the idea of EIF had been birthed, Che did not follow up on growing his creation. The adversity Che had encountered had overcome him and he spent the next 8 years recovering from this adversity through the unorthodox methods of his Father and Step Mother. While in recovery mode. And in 2009 Che finally took action and began to create again. With a low budget studio setup he worked his sonic crafts through daily drills of writing lyrics, making beats and expanding his mind. This went on until he reconnected with one of the greatest humans he every met, Vicenta Love. During his time with her he would share meals with her, talk and learn an immense amount of wisdom. The lessons learned via Vicenta were ways to maximize health, wealth and just being an over all better human being. She is one of the main reasons Che is still here. Her methods of communicating the lessons were unique and unparalleled. Also during this time Che spent some time with his young nephew and some short meaningful moments with his mother a really genuine fine human who was always kind to Che. Shortly after The Captain Talks Flicks Podcast was born and is still going to this day. After many years of this exploration unfortunately, Vicenta had gotten sick. So Che had limited his artistic duties in order to assist her in this time. From 2016-2019 Che did everything in his power to assist Vicenta. Unfortunately, in 2019 after a lengthly battle with illness she had passed away. Che and everyone who her knew her were devastated. Che spent many months mourning and figuring out what is next. Che knew in his heart what to do. After many lengthly late night talks with Vicenta it was clear. On one of those late night/early mornings after a lengthly conversation Che said " I promise to practice the lessons of health, wealth and overall well being that you taught me when you're gone". And one of those lesson were to stay being creative. So Che got back to business and put in immense about time honing his artistic craft and continued studying the lessons taught. Which are heavily focused on Mind, Body, Finance, Creativity and Community. Which he continues to explore to this day. So he continued on this reinvigorated trek started in 2020 and while on this trek on March 13 of 2020 the pandemic happened. Interestingly, a day before the pandemic happened, Che released the album Glitch In The Matrix. To quote The Matrix " Fate, it seems, is not without a sense of irony." So during the duration of the pandemic he continued honing his craft and releasing numerous artistic projects. After the conclusion of the pandemic, he just kept doing what he had been doing. Then, in 2022 he met the most beautiful, intelligent, and kindest woman he ever met. Her name is RenéLA, a creative beautiful human that surpasses Che in everyway possible. Che was instantly in love. They have had long satisfying conversations, along with nights on the town and time staying in and being creative. There lives are forever intertwined, and Che is extremely happy and grateful for that. Additionally, Che has been quoted as saying "the gift of the skills and abilities bestowed on me to create art from the most high saved my life"

Through the course of Che's life he has been on a journey to learn as much as possible about the world we live in. He has explored this through numerous forms of media, relationships and deep exploration of his mind throughout his years on this planet. This is the input that is studied, analyzed, reconstructed and interpreted in beats and rhyme. After, then created sonically and shared with the world. Its a unique blend of traditional HipHop, Spoken Word and Avant-Garde sonic artistry adding a whole new tapestry to the musical world. Che believes he has been given this talent from the most high and its his job to use his unique talents and methods of sonics to help bring more peace, love, happiness and having fun to the world.
